I guess it could be a factory mutt that was thrown together as a custom shop, hard to say without any kind of serial or paperwork like bill of sale, etc...

The neck is a righty as stated but its from 1987-88 because 1989-up they didnt use rear mount locking nuts.
The trem is a Takeuchi which was 1989 only.
The lack of neck plate was 1990-93/4 Class Axe era, and the serial is typically stamped into the rear of the headstock.

This is a big mix and match over severl model years, so I guess it could be construed as a left over parts build sure. I tend to stay away from the 1990-up Class Axe era because theres too much weird stuff that went on such as this. This isnt the first one I saw with a right handed neck (side dots) but with a lefty logo, so I guess this stuff did happen from time to time.

This would be something to play and jam on, nothing youd want to collect, and def nothingnyoud want to have to explain away yourself when you do decide to sell.
It should have Sperzel tuners for the Class Axe years and Grover or Gotoh for 87-89.

When I see this kind of stuff, the first thing that comes to mind is "employee build."

A friend of mine had a righty, from this era (late 80's pre-class axe), with strange specs : a warlock body and a reverse head / maple cap maple neck from a gunslinger, factory made.

Oh yea theres def some weird builds out there, and when you take into consideration the over lap and change over in ownership, and using up over stock, and in our cases, whatever was lying around at that given time. I know of a few USA lefties that are original but they have right handed side dots, so you cant discount anything for many reasons. It just sucks trying to explain this stuff when it comes time to sell.
